The Waimate Seniors bounced back from their disappointing match against Mackenzie the previous weekend to play entertaining rugby and score lots of tries as they beat Old Boys 45 – 13 at School Park.
Again it took a while to settle as Old Boys had the upper hand early on with two penalties to lead 6 – 0, but soon the Waimate forwards began to assert their dominance and with the backline gelling most of the time, they were soon finding holes in the Old Boys defensive system with Jared Matthews crossing for two good tries, and probably missing an even easier other try as he eyed the line before catching the ball.
The Senior Bs also had a good win 31 – 21 after also being down for a long period at the start of the game, but perhaps superior fitness showed through? Matt Devlin crossed a couple of times, but Matt (Chucky) Sew How still needs to improve that goal kicking percentage (sorry mate).
The U18s continued their winning form beating Geraldine 49 – 0 in Geraldine.
The U16s went down to TBHS Colts 24 – 27
The U14.5s almost picked up their second win in a row but went down 21 – 26 to TBHS.
More news and results will be updated as it comes to hand.
