Waimate Club had another good day with victories in every grade except Senior.

Results:

Seniors lost to Mackenzie 8 -15

Senior B’s made it two in a row defeating Mackenzie 25 – 18.

The U18s despatched Roncalli with no trouble 74 -0, with Bryce Shearer having an outstanding day scoring most  of the points.

The U16s continued their winning form too, defeating TBHS Blue 37 -0.

The U14.5 team notched up their first win of the season after a close match with Roncalli Gold, eventually running out the victors by 34 – 31.

Report:

Mackenzie upset the formbook by starving Waimate of ball to record a deserved 15-8 win at Strathconan Park where the hosts Mackenzie could have won by more after blowing several try-scoring opportunities in the first half but still led 10-8.

Waimate did look good with ball in hand but they could not get enough of it, as the Rams pack closed them down.

For Mackenzie, Andrew Scarlett and Jimmy Adams played well in the forwards, while halfback Sammi Puafisi was a standout.

Out wide the Rams also looked good with veteran centre Faaitu Tuamoheloa a key to getting good ball to wing Jonny Whittaker and fullback Garth Hand.

Mackenzie’s points came courtesy of tries to wing Ben Farley and prop Charles Aho with Damon Smith adding a conversion and penalty.

For Waimate, first-five Miles Medlicott looked dangerous and centre Jared Matthews grabbed a try, while Jackson Henshaw added a penalty.
