Black (& White) Day at Manchester

Results went the Magpie’s way in Senior & Senior B at  home this weekend with only the U16s (who travelled away) having any success over Temuka.

Senior v Temuka:  9  –  15

At Waimate, Temuka finally got home in a nailbiter, having dropped three this season.

The Magpies also had the unusual circumstance of three players in the sinbin at one stage for legitimate yellow cards, then rolled on a number of “B” players as injuries struck, but Waimate could still not take any real advantage.

Temuka also scored the only two tries in the game – one each for Quentin Wood and Paul Coles.

Stand-outs for the victors were fullback Tenari Saumani and Tevita Guamata, who played at 10 rather than 12, and hooker Aifala Taelega.

Waimate failed to make the most of their chances when Temuka were reduced to 12 players. However, No 7 Richard Ford impressed while the front-row of Shannon Howe, Simon Bleeker and Sam Matson were strong.

Senior B v Temuka:  5  –  32

An improved result on the previous outing.

U18 v Waitaki Boys:  39  –  0

U16 v Temuka:  32  –  0

U14.5 v Waitaki Boys Black:  10  –  84

Up against the top WBHS side the boys will be pleased to have got onto the scoreboard and into double figures.
