Clean Sweep for Waimate teams

Saturday proved to be a much better sporting day for the Waimate rugby teams with all four afternoon sides winning comfortably, while the U18 had another week off with a scheduled bye.

Waimate accounted for Old Boys 32-0 and coach Warren Rooney was delighted with the play of his back three, in particular fullback George Williams, who scored two tries in their bonus point win over Old Boys. The victory keeps them in touch with the top four and Rooney said with a favourable schedule coming up, he was quietly happy with where his team was placed.

Senior B:

The boys had a big victory over Old Boys by 57 – 28, and mostly redeemed themselves for the narrow 3 point loss in the first round.

Some tougher matches ahead, so keep up the good work.

The boys also continued their unbeaten run for the season and are playing good rugby after being the young’uns in this grade last season. Remarkably at this stage of the season their for and against record is almost identical to the U16s!
