The Waimate Senior B side continued their fine season reversing the previous week’s result by winning 12 – 11 after having to travel back to Pleasant Point to play Point in a top of the table clash with the winner going straight through to the final, while the loser has to win next week to have a chance to play in the final.

In the previous round it was Waimate denied the win conceding a try in injury time, and this time the battle was just as difficult, but with 3 minutes to play Waimate scored the try closing the score to 11 – 10 in favour of Point and the match outcome dependent on the conversion attempt from Jason Sew Hoy.

Jason was up to the task, converting to give Waimate the lead and a couple of minutes later the win and a well deserved break next weekend before the final on July 26th.

All this on top of having to supply players to immediately travel back to Waimate and be available as reserves for the Seniors, so a really great effort, something coaches Barry Caird and Andrew Davidson will be very happy with after their first season in charge.
