Best to leave duckshooting weekend to the ducks

A disappointing few days at duckshooting weekend  after it started with the Senior Bs who played their match on Thursday night losing 10 – 49.

And on Saturday in Senior Pleasant Point proved far too good for Waimate with the Mud Dogs scoring five tries to come out on top 39 – 20, after leading 15-13 at the break.

Waimate were in the game at halftime just down 15-13 but then injuries to a couple of key players and a pumped home side saw them well beaten in the end.

For the Mud Dogs prop Wiremu Cottrell had a big game while halfback George Gibson was very busy.

English wing Max Morris scored a couple of good tries while midfielder Josh Robson also impressed.

For Waimate hooker Toko Fakatava was involved in everything along with prop Conor McCormack.

New Irish first five Shane Airey, fresh off the plane, showed he has plenty of potential while halfback Davidson played well until he limped off at halftime.

Pleasant Point 39 (Max Morris 2, Shane Moseby 2, Alex Cooney try, Brad Tegelaars 4 con, 2 pen) Waimate 20 (Miles Medlicott, Loni Toumohuni try Colin Ryan 2con, 2 pen)

U14.5s rack up third win in a row

The U14.5 team kept their promising start to the season going well with their second half-century winning score (the other match they won by default) beating Waitaki Black 61 – 24 at Manchester Park.
