Season openers show plenty of promise for Hamersely Cup

Old Boys held Waimate for 60 minutes until the country side ran away in the final quarter with three tries to win 50-23, to record the only bonus point win of the Hamersley Cup openers.

Old Boys were in the game at halftime against Waimate, down by just two point, 18-16.

The Wallabies however showed superior skill and fitness in the final quarter to romp away.

For Waimate big No.8 Loni Toumohuni was a handful, celebrating his birthday with two tries, two conversions and a penalty.

Tokoa’ata Fakatava also had a big game up front while first five Miles Medlicott had a very tidy game.

Senior B’s

The B’s were far too strong for Old Boys with the match being called off 15 minutes early due to the one-sided nature of the match as Waimate romped to a 99 – 0 win for their season opener.
