At Manchester Park Waimate were good enough to lead 19-15 at halftime but couldn’t hang on when Pleasant Point found another gear.
For Pleasant Point Jeff Pierce impressed in his 100th game for the Mud Dogs, including scoring a try, while his locking partner Luke Brice also had a very good game.
In the backs centre Josh Robson another very good game, while loose forward Mana Taylor grabbed two tries.
For Waimate their new Irish halfback Steve Horan made an immediate impression with two tries in an excellent allround performance while front rower Tokoma’ata Fakatava again played well again as did Darragh Bellanova.
Mosese Aho also returned for Waimate after a injury break, which was a big bonus.

Another close match going down to competition leaders Pleasant Point by 13 – 18 after beating them in the first round.
The boys lost 17 – 31 to TBHS Lions, but continue to be competitive in this grade and are close to causing some upsets.
